The Energy Problem
According to the International Energy Agency's central scenario global energy demand is going to increase by one third by the year 2035. Demand grows for all forms of energy. It can not be any other way with the fact that the world population is going to steadily rise according to an official prospect prepared by the United Nations. The global population is projected to increase by almost 1 billion people within the next twelve years, reaching 8.1 billion in 2025, and to further increase to 9.6 billion in 2050 and 10.9 billion by 2100.

The developing countries as a whole have the fastest growing population in the world with a combined 2.3% per year. Although this rate is expected to significantly slow down in the next decades, their population is still expected to double by mid - century. It is no surprise that the centre of gravity of global energy demand shifts decisively towards emerging economies - they account for more than 90% of net energy demand growth by 2035. Taken into account the theory of peak oil & gas, which we might assume to be true, because there cannot be anything infinite on a finite planet, the population growth and the ever more energy dependent society, the need of the more extensive use of renewable energy sources is undeniable.
